GlobalSign continues Asia Pacific expansion with opening of local sales and support services in anticipation of surge in local online security demand

Singapore – February 28, 2012 - GMO GlobalSign (www.globalsign.com.sg), one of the longest established Certification Authorities (CA) and specialists in Digital Certificate security, today officially announced the opening of its Philippines sales office to cater to the increasing online security needs of the local market.

GlobalSign was established over 15 years ago as one of the world's first public Certification Authorities and SSL providers, and joined GMO Internet Group in October 2006. The new Philippines office will help fuel GlobalSign’s expansion in the Asia Pacific region, while complementing existing regional operations across North America, Europe, China, Singapore and Australia.

The Philippines, one of the most technologically aggressive societies in Asia, is expected to experience a boost in demand for online security services. A recent survey* by leading Philippines newspaper, The Philippines Star has also revealed that internet usage in the country has overtaken Filipinos' access to traditional media such as radio and print. However, many still hesitate to completely embrace Internet activities such as ecommerce and online banking due to security concerns.

GlobalSign aims to facilitate access to the latest security technology in the Philippines through the opening of a new local office. Organizations with an online presence, in all business sectors including education, are increasingly recognizing the need to secure websites, online transactions, webmail and other next generation services, to protect themselves and their website users in the face of ever-increasing online security threats. Philippine companies can now benefit from proximity to highly qualified local sales personnel for exploratory meetings and presentations.

"We live up to our commitment of providing reliable online security products and constantly strive to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction – this is what we value most." said Ichiro Chujo, Group Chief Executive Officer, GlobalSign. "By setting up a local sales office, we intend to become the Certificate Authority of choice in the Philippines and educate the online public to raise awareness of the importance of securing data. It is our dedication that will ultimately drive GlobalSign's success in this market."

GlobalSign's simplified, competitively priced, feature-packed range of SSL certificates support Wildcard technology and Subject Alternative Names for securing multiple sites with a single certificate. In addition, all certificates are issued from the widely distributed, 2048 bit GlobalSign Root CA certificate to provide the most trusted level of encryption currently available. GlobalSign also offers a range of other dedicated digital certificate solutions including PDF Signing Digital IDs for secure exchange of authentic electronic PDF documents such as transcripts and diplomas, as well as PersonalSign Digital IDs for digitally signing and encrypting emails and signing Microsoft Office documents

Frost & Sullivan Applauds GlobalSign for its Breadth of High-Assurance, Flexible, Cost-Effective SSL Certificate Solutions

Singapore – February 24, 2012 - GMO GlobalSign (www.globalsign.com.sg), one of the longest established Certification Authorities (CA) and specialists in SSL Certificate security, today announced it has been awarded the 2011 North America Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Line Strategy in the SSL Certificate market. Innovative product range, market growth, and attention to customer needs all contributed to differentiating GlobalSign from other competing Certificate Authorities in the market.

"GlobalSign leverages its 15 years of experience in the SSL Certificate market to make the lifecycle process of an SSL Certificate easier to manage, said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Richard Martinez. "GlobalSign's ability to understand the need of hosting providers and enterprises of all sizes from small and medium size enterprises to large enterprises, has positioned it for significant success in today's SSL Certificate market."

Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that demonstrates the most insight into the needs and product demands of its customers. The recipient company has optimized its product line by leveraging products with the various price, performance, and feature points required by one or more market segments.

Breadth of Product Line

GlobalSign's range of SSL Certificates allows GlobalSign to cater to the entire SSL market, from the smallest organizations to large Enterprises and hosting companies. GlobalSign has recently expanded their service offering to include such innovations as OneClickSSL, which fully automates the SSL provisioning process, CloudSSL, which allows organizations to use a Certificate across virtualized environments without the restriction of having to purchase additional licenses, and Managed SSL v2, which offers a user-friendly, highly scalable means of managing multiple SSL Certificates.

Impact on Customer Value

The needs of the customers are always at the forefront during the GlobalSign product development process and existing services are frequently updated to ensure maximum security, flexibility, and ease of use. Features such as unlimited server licenses, inclusion of both `www' and `non-www' on the same Certificate and the option to include up to forty different sub domains on multi-domain Certificates ensure customers get the most value from each purchase. GlobalSign's new SSL automation technology, OneClickSSL, takes customer value to the next level, making SSL provisioning a value-add service for hosting companies. Eliminating customer errors and support overheads increases SSL profit margins and allows the organization to focus on their core business.

Market Growth

Thanks to innovative products and adaption to customer needs, GlobalSign is currently ranked fifth in number of SSL Certificates issued and sixth in SSL Certificate sales worldwide, reflecting a significant 35% growth from 2010 to 2011. With efforts now more focused on large enterprises, GlobalSign has gained significant traction among Fortune 1000 and Fortune 500 customers and this trend is set to continue going forward throughout 2012.

Don't end up giving away more than just your heart this Valentine's Day! Stay alert when shopping online!

No comments:
Happy Valentine's Day! Don't fall for phishing websites who are looking for a cupid-stricken heart!

Valentine's Day is here and many of us are rushing for last minute purchase that special friend, partner...yup that special someone.
With the rise of e-commerce purchasing, it's easy to surprise someone at the click of the button! However, there's an increasing rise of phishing websites waiting to take advantage of all of us caught up in the festivities.

The GlobalSign team would like to share 5 quick steps to avoid online fraud:

1. Look for the “secure site” indicators
Look for the yellow padlock in browsers that will indicate if a website is using Secure Socket Layer(SSL) – an encryption technology ensuring that the data sent to the retailer (such as financial, personal and user account information) is encrypted & secure. It is also good practice to ensure that web address on the pages you enter sensitive information on begin with “https:” (s for secure) instead of “http:”

Also, do look out for the “Green Address Bar” in the internet browsers address bar which gives shoppers enhanced confidence with a clear visual indication of whether a web site operator has been
verified through a more rigorous level of background checks.

2. Protect your privacy & identity
Try and use different usernames password combinations from the ones you use for your banking, web mail and other accounts. The best passwords should not include information like addresses, birth dates, phone numbers or recognizable words. To be completely secure it is also not recommended that you write down your passwords or store them on or near your computer.

3. Be on the lookout for scams
Do not click on links in an unsolicited email or pop-up advertisement asking for personal information. Also, do not open and install attachments and free software from unknown sources.
If you receive an email that warns you that an account will be shut down unless you reconfirm your personal information, do not reply the email. Instead, call the organisation listed in the email using a telephone number you know to be genuine to confirm if the request is authentic.

4. Use a safe method of payment
Most credit cards have protection on them so use a credit card wherever possible to pay for your purchase. Many credit card companies will, under certain circumstances, even pay the entire amount for you. If the merchant does not accept credit cards, look for other methods of safe payment such as PayPal

5. Get the details, keep the records
Keep all records of your purchase safe in a separate email folder so that they are easy to locate in the
event of a non-delivery Print out a copy of all transactions and keep them safe until the purchase has been delivered in case any emails are accidentally deleted. If there is no date on the printout be sure to add it in writing. At the time of purchase, make a note of a contact number or email for the merchant, just in case the products do not arrive.

We hope these tips help to make shopping a lot safer!

Happy Shopping!
